Purchasing Directorate has a structure consisting of 110 employees and 5 different departments, including Direct Materials, Industrial Service and Spare Parts Purchasing, Supplier Quality Development, and Project Method. The directorate manages financial turnover of $3.25 Billion.
The main mission of the Purchasing Directorate is evaluating suppliers’ performance in areas such as technical and commercial efficiency, quality by determined standards to increase its competitiveness by ensuring quality and sustainability in production.
To fulfill this mission and needs below, Purchasing Professional Development Program was created;
- To gain a professional perspective to position the relations with Tofas and suppliers.
- To be competent in the matter of Tofas policy and business requirements.
- To take a professional stand especially “Expertness and Know-how” against the suppliers.
By this way, the Purchasing Directorate employees will be more competent and more competitive in worldwide.
Learning Methods Used
The program is designed as a blended-learning program supported by various learning methods as listed below:
- Video learning
- In-class training
- Site visit
- Social learning
- Reading Material
The program was kicked-off with a survey which was carried out with the audience and then needs were determined. Thereafter roles were classified according to needs as purchasing specialist, supplier quality specialist, project/method specialist. The program was vertically broken down into learning paths that correspond to seniority level of the specialists as follows:
- Fundamental: 0-12 months
- Intermediate: 12-24 months
- Advanced: 24+ months
Development activities are continued during a year and program content is updated every year according to needs.
